Cyber Security and Prevention Strategies

Following a challenge issued by ELRED to Cisco and the Porto and North Tourism Association, and aware that tourism is one of the many sectors that manages sensitive information, both from companies and individuals, the Porto and North Tourism Association agreed to jointly create an informative session on strategies to adopt for the protection of digital networks related to tourism.

For the many and diverse actors involved in the tourism sector, the pressure to offer fast and personalised digital experiences can lead to reduced investment in cybersecurity, making the sector an attractive target for cybercriminals.

Large volumes of personal and financial data from customers are processed daily, including names, identification documents, payment information, and travel itineraries.

The combination of high customer turnover, the need for constant data exchange, and sometimes outdated technological infrastructures also makes this one of the sectors most exposed to privacy breaches and cyber attacks.

Raising awareness of all these aspects was the theme for a session dedicated to this topic, which took place on 22nd May at the Vertical Dom Henrique space, Oporto.
